Deloitte Access Economics (Australia) was commissioned by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to update the 2009 Access Economics report on the economic impact of sight loss and blindness in the UK adult population, including the direct and indirect costs of sight loss and blindness, and the burden of sight loss and blindness on health.
Sight Loss Data Tool
RNIB’s Sight Loss Data Tool is the UK’s largest collection of eye health and sight loss data. You’ll find practical eye health insights across a range of topics, including:
- estimates for the number of people living with sight loss and specific eye conditions
- health and social care activity data
- local area data and risk factors that may increase the risk of eye health problems.
Time to Focus report
Our ‘Time to Focus’ report, published in 2020, clearly highlighted the impact and cost of sight loss on a growing number of individuals and broader society. It asserts that the cost of sight impairment and blindness to the UK economy is estimated at £25 billion annually.
